Sketch #36 - Fremantle Prison, Fremantle

This prison is one of the oldest and once the biggest buildings in Western Australia, being built by the convicts in the 1850's. It was only closed 30 years ago, and we were told the stories and history of this haunting place. I wouldn't have wanted to have been a convict there that's for sure. I was surprised though to discover that some of the prisoners also decorated the walls in some stunning murals!
